Although La Paz may be the capital city of Baja California Sur, this sleepy seaside town still gives off the old-world charm that captured the imagination of John Steinbeck in the 1940’s.
Discovered by Hernan Cortes in the early 1500’s, La Paz was once known for its pearl harvesting industry, an industry that slipped into obscurity making room for eco-tourism and the on-going development of the area.
Numerous islands surround La Paz, the most popular being Isla Espiritu Santo, now a UNESCO World Heritage site.
