Pueblo Magico
The history of Todos Santos dates back to 1723 when the Jesuits came to establish a regional outpost Mission. They chose Todos Santos because of the abundant water supply and favorable climate.” The Jesuits discovered Pericu, Cochise and Guaycura Indians living in the mountain areas surrounding what is now Todos Santos. Fast forward to the twenty-first century. Todos Santos is now a charming Pueblo Mágico with a vibrant community of worldwide expats and Mexican families living harmoniously in this very special beachside town located a mere 45 minutes from Los Cabos and the State Capital, La Paz.
Complementing the beautiful Pacific Ocean are the majestic UNESCO Sierra de la Laguna Mountains. The Indian tribes have long since gone, replaced by beautiful homes gracing this incredibly verdant landscape, excellent gastronomic restaurants, organic farmlands and innumerable art galleries. The original Mission, Nuestra Señora del Pilar de La Paz, still stands in the town square. The movie theatre (cine) established in 1944 today showcases the Annual Todos Santos Film Festival. Every year, the town celebrates its charm with an Annual Music Festival, Film Festival, Historical Homes Tour and a Food and Wine Festival; all benefiting charitable causes for this precious Pueblo Mágico.
